I Have the Privilege to Surrender. What does it mean to have the privilege to surrender? It means having the opportunity to provide and support yourself, but surrendering that ability so that you can hold what God has handed to you. Fundraising has been very stressful. Not only do I have the $22,500 to raise for World Race, but I also have an additional $6,000 for my College of Athens tuition and I only have a few months to raise the money. As most everyone can imagine, $30,000 is no small number, and so I decided I would lock in and go back to an old job working 60+ hours a week to try and support a lot of that myself. I applied to the job and they wanted to hire me back on right away, but I told them that at the end of the month (May 28th), I was flying out to Kazakhstan for two weeks on a mission trip. Now this mission trip is something I helped put together and organize and it has been very clearly been a God led thing. That being said, the company stated that I wouldn't be hired on unless I could find a way to drop the trip. And so, I run into this crossroads where if I drop the trip, I will be covered by my own hand and I will find provision through my own work, I can make most of the money myself. To drop the trip though is to drop what God gave me to take care of, it is to operate in the fear that I won't be supported and provided for. It is a direct parallel to the Parable of the Talents. Because of what God has handed me, I cannot in good conscious give it back to Him because I was afraid. It all stems from a place of faith, do I believe that He will provide the resources on the path to where He calls me? He has called me, and so He will provide. Now this is where I get the privilege to surrender. I have the ability, but to do it myself is to put down what He has handed me. I cannot put it down, and so I will surrender my ability, my strength, and my fear. It really is a privilege to be given this opportunity to surrender.
